Our sweet little story

This shop has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. One of my fondest memories from childhood was regular visits to the local drugstore with my Grandma. I just loved to explore all the goodness that lined their isles, AND I knew I would score a little treat. The toys, candy, knick knacks, stuffed animals...it was ALL goodness to me.

In 2012, I stepped one step closer to my dream when we purchased an existing clothing store, La Rue Marche - exactly 2 doors down from where The Bees Knees stands today. My heart was so dang happy making LRM my own, but the idea of a little gift shop was still nudging me in my dreams. I've become an expert research and development traveler (aka : girls trips with my besties from grade school) My husband often laughs at these so called "business trips", but it's on these trips when inspiration strikes!

On a 2016 "research and development" trip to Phoenix with my girlfriends, I walked into a hotel lobby and there she was - a cocktail lounge staring at me...The Bees Knees. The Bees Knees. After several fancy cocktails and brainstorming, I had a plan and I knew it was a good one...I just had to convince my tricky financial advisor (aka husband). As the girls and I parted ways at the airport I confidently said, "Ladies, I really think The Bees Knees is going to be something!" Their response, "We know." The Bees Knees opened its doors in April of 2017 and every day I'm greeted by my grandma who sits beautifully on our top shelf. Dreams do come true with a little hardwork, the best grandma, amazing staff, and research and development trips! 😉
